“Squirrel” is only 2.5 months old. She was rescued from the infamous Santee Alley when she was only 10 days old. She’s been sneezing for a very long time despite the antibiotics she was on. Then, we took her to Dr. Kanfer and we discovered that both lower jaws have large abscesses, pushing some molars out of alignment, and leading to overgrowth of all teeth, preventing her from closing her mouth properly. This is the worst case of malocclusion and dental problems Dr. Kanfer has seen in a rabbit as young as this one. Her suspicion is that this occurred from bacteria in her bloodstream that settled in his tooth roots, causing infection and abscessation.  Our hope is to clear up the abscesses and get her teeth realigned. She will likely need several dental procedures to accomplish this, and may need maintenance tooth trims in the future a couple times a year to keep her mouth in good shape.
